46-9085 Kenmore filters are used on Kenmore branded bottom freezer and side-by-side refrigerators that have a push button release filter located on the grill on the lower left side of the refrigerator and removed by turning the knob attached to the filter by 1/4 turn.
Kenmore Refrigerator Water Filter model# 46-9085 is discontinued. Kenmore refrigerators using this filter are manufactured by Whirlpool for Sears-Kenmore Brand.
To replace Kenmore Refrigerator filter 46-9085 you can use either Whirlpool-Everydrop OEM Filters EDR5RXD1B or EVFILTER5B. Alternatively SpiroPure WP500 filters.

Break it down step by step
- Locate your water filter cartridge cap on the left side of the refrigerator’s base grille.
- Rotate the cap counterclockwise until the handle is vertical, then pull straight out.
- Remove the filter cap by sliding it off the end of the filter. Keep the cap, but discard the old filter.
- Open your new filter and remove the protective coverings from the O-rings.
- Slide the cartridge cap onto the end of the new filter.
- When inserting the new filter into the filter slot, make sure the cap handle is vertical. Push all the way in.
- Rotate the filter cap clockwise until it’s horizontal.
- Once your filter is replaced, run four gallons of water through the line to properly flush the new filter.
